The Final Blog

I feel that all my blogs were just pretty much about what i need to write, and some what i want to write because that is what blogging is about, your not suppose to be serious when you blog, you have to have fun. I especially Loved the e.c blogs because one, they helped my grade and they were about all the fun subjects i liked to write about, the e.c blogs were the best blogs in the entire year and i am sure everyone can agree on. in the beginning I wasn't excited about blogging because i am a bad writer, but these blogs helped me so much because i had a chance to expose what i wrote and get feedback on it too, even though comments aren't always good, however to me the worst comments are the best ones because i can learn from them and improve what i did wrong. Honestly i really can't tell what significance my blog is except just a average blog talking about what I feel or what i should be writing etc.
The quote "What we think, we become" by Buddha is the quote that would describe not only mine, but everyone's as well because what we blog about is what we've been holding back in our minds and waiting to let out your thoughts. That quote is really what describes me because what i wrote like my goals or what i will i do plan to do them.
Blogging in this class to some is a drag and is stupid, but to me its an opportunity to increase my grade and actually have fun doing so as well, I hope i have you as a Junior so i can blog once again

I think that i am an accomplished essayist, not that i wasn't before, but now i feel like i have gotten better, but for me i only actually write the essay "GOOD" if i actually like the subject, and i won't lie because i really don't like writing about the subjects in the past, and i didn't enjoy writing about Romeo and Juliet either because i had to reread it over again to try to understand it more. This year i learned the most important thing that i feel is important to essays, the thesis and how you transition from paragraph to paragraph or sentence to sentence. I personally think im really bad at writing because im just bad at writing, but this year i learned things that would prepare me for next year.

I just need a B or higher grade on this essay so that my overall grade won't fall too much and still give me a cvhance to bring it up into an A in the end. i think that the only thing i am worried about is going off topic too much and more than five errors in conventions, but with the weekend to fix things i hope i can get it right.

Summer Reading List

if i were to read two books over the summer, they would both be from Suzanne Collins, her novels Catching Fireand Mockingjayboth sequels from her first book Hunger games.
the main reason why i want to read her books so much is the first book Hunger game caught my attention so much i read it again, thats right i read the same book twice, and i've never done that before, and the first time i read it i read it for over 4 or 5 hours straight. her books are so intense and filled with action and also filled with tragedies that make you continue reading to find out what ill happen next.
i know everyone says whatever book they're going to read is really good and everyone should read it, but that is their personal opinion but this book EVERYONE can read and i am not joking

Fate

Me, My birthday is on august 8th and the Leo's traits is being ambitious, confident, independent, loyal, and generous. Leo's are perfectionists that try to do everything as well as they can, even when people say its already good they know they can make it better, but some Leo's can be domineering, bossy, and stubborn and think that they are right about everything even if others tell them their not.

This is actually really accurate as i try my best on everything i do, and i set high standards for what i do and believe that it will come true but it will be me that decides if it will. Some people wouldn't believe that generosity is my strongest trait, but those that know me well enough i am really generous, but sometimes i can become extremely stubborn as well because i am so sure it is correct when it actually isn't.

in the play, Romeo and Juliet fate often comes into the play as Romeo often comes up on his future, for example when Romeo hears about his punishment he tell Friar Ha, banishment! Be merciful, say “death,” this is basically saying his fate will only he death as he would chose death over exil

R&J in Modern culture

In my reference of how Romeo and Juliet has effected the modern culture, I used a Chinese TVB Series The Proud Twins because in the movie similar to Romeo and Juliet the main characters a male and female fall in love, but the male is REALLY poor, and the female is extremely rich, so their chances of being in love were unheard of, but love over came that, but unfortunately even the ending is so alike, the female character actually dies, but the male is left alive.
In this movie it is half drama and half comedy, even with all the deaths the funny parts of the movie make it seem like the end will be a happy one.
When I read the blog my mind instantly thought of that series, because it is just SO similar, the link is right below, but there are no English subtitles

E.C

in 8th grade i heard my cousin talk about how "complicated" its going to be once i go into honors english, but as the year began and i went into the classroom i was expecting to do really bad on the summer assignment because i literally did it 2 days before school started. but once i saw Mrs. Gilman i just knew it was going to be a really fun and easy year.
during the year we did projects and read books after books, but to my suprise it was all most one of the easiest and most fun classes i have since middle school and highschool. but i really hated reading because i really just space off when i am reading, but it is all made up because of the discussions Mrs Gilman makes us do, to tell the truth that is where i understood and learned most of the stuff we had to read.
But if it were possible it would be sweet if Mrs Gilman was the 10th grade honors english teacher

Skit Prep

the scenes in The Great Expectations that I think would be sweet will definitely be when the two convicts are fighting each other in the marshes, one trying to get away, and one trying to capture the other, it would be a easy skit to perform, but also very fun.
the second scene when pip gets home and immediately gets beaten by Mrs Joe, it would be really funny to see what groups would do when they are acting it out.
the final scene would of course be the fight between pip and the pale young gentleman as pip completely beats him up, it would really funny to watch and really fun to perform it as well

More Questions about Great Expectations

Wait, so there is a new character mentioned, and his name is Compeyson? And Compeyson is a convict just like Abel, and hes the one that was caught by Abel? or is he the one pip saw on the coach??? And he is the same person that broke Miss Havisham's heart? if so then why is he a convict and Havisham knows nothing about it? I am so confused.. why does Dickens have to make everything so confusing.

Great Expectations: Question

In this book there are SO many confusing parts that I have no clue what it's suppose to mean, but this quote of when Estella talked to Pip I couldn't figure out what Estella was trying to tell Pip "You must know," said Estella, condescending to me as a brilliant and beautiful woman, "might, that I have no heart- if that has anything to do with my memory."

no matter how I read that over and over I just don't seem to understand what Estella is trying to tell Pip. Is Estella trying to tell Pip that she has no emotion at all? or is she threatening Pip? or making fun of Pip like she usually does?

Great Expectations:Photo

This block of clay represents Pip when he used to be plain and simple, but like the clay Pip is easily moldable, either into a masterpiece or a disaster and that all depends on who is the person reconfiguring him. In the past few chapters pip was molded by Miss Havisham into a masterpiece in her own mind, and using Estella as a tool to do so she made Pip ashamed of his own life, and family, and shaping Pip into wanting to become something she once was, only to destroy what she made in the end like a sculptor does to imperfections in their art.

Great Expectations

In the quote Pip is referring to the first day he went to visit Miss Havisham's house and met Estella. Estella altered Pip from a carefree young boy into someone that is self conscious about his social wealth and body appearance, making Pip ashamed of being poor with coarse hands and thick boots. Pip's character changed a lot after his first encounter with Estella as he became more and more ashamed of him, his family and his apprenticeship with Joe, even after being ridiculed by Estella Pip still manages to find feelings for her, Pip became more mature than he was in the beginning, not only physically but mentally as well.

This gave me a vivid memory of the times back in China, when i was in first grade. My first day at school I met this little boy in my class, and he was often bullied by other kids because his parents were poor, it was lunch and he brought some soggy Chinese buns that looked a few days over dated, when the kids saw that they went over to him and started talking trash towards him, it got so bad that a fat boy grabbed the buns and stepped on it and made him eat it, he didn't to but they forced him, and the teachers just stood there watching as it wasn't their 'business'. When the kids finally walked away feeling accomplished I went over to the kid and shared my lunch with him, we became best friends throughout that year, and he often came over to play with me because his dad did business with my dad.

MY PARAGRAPH

However, dishonesty, no matter how small or how big it is still hidden deep inside the dark side of everyone's hearts. During the play all of the characters each had their little secrets that they lied to others only for their personal gain or for the reasons that they thought fit, the lies were small, so small it didn't seem of much importance, for instance, Algernon was able to deceive not only Jack but Lady Bracknell as well when he told Jack "Please don't touch the cucumber sandwiches. They are ordered specially for Aunt Augusta" (30) only to keep the sandwiches for himself, and when Lady Bracknell arrived Algernon was able to shift the cucumber sandwiches to Lane saying "There were no cucumbers in the market" (38)when all along the sandwiches were eaten by him alone. But Algernon isn't the only one having fun lying, instead all the characters each have their own little black book. Jack for one, he despised the idea of Algernon having interest in Cecily and his response was "Well if you want to know, Cecily happens to be my Aunt" (32) and he continues "Yes. Charming old lady she is too. lives at Tunbridge Wells" (32) it seems like a tiny lie, which it is, but he only told that because he thought it was better off with Algernon not knowing Cecily. And how can we forget little Cecily, I mean she is only 18 right? Well that is her age at home, and at clubs she is 21, she has everyone fooled only to seem more mature for her own gains of fitting in with others that are older, but that is not all, she even uses fake letters from Earnest to fake their love ever since she found out about Earnest.
Though the lies are simple, they still hold a much larger role in the play, as all the characters each lie and deceive each other.

That might be my paragraph, im gonna edit it abit at home tonight

For my transition sent i am going to say " However, dishonesty, no matter how big or small it is still hidden within the dark sides of everyone"
i am going to use more than three concrete details in my paragraph, but these three i am certain i will include, the first one is when Lady Bracknell was going over to see Algernon he told Jack he couldn't eat any of the sandwiches because they were made for Lady Bracknell, but instead he ate them all.
The second transition is when Jack tries to trick Algernon to think that Cecily was his aunt so that he wouldn't be interested.
and finally the third transition will be when Algernon uses the "Bunbury" excuse to try to get out of going out with Lady Bracknell with her friends

Do you think I should change the Transition sentence, i am not sure yet still cause im still trying to make a new one

Importance of Being Earnest

Researching about the Victorian Era helped me understand the play a lot, I knew more about the classes during that time, and marriage. I learned that the rich didn't do any work to earn what they got because it was passed down to them from their parents, just like Jack and Algernon in the play. Algernon even said it was " awfully hard work doing nothing" which was ironic because doing nothing isn't work, and lower class families that have opportunities to not work were happy unlike most of the richer classes that smoked and drank as something to do.
With marriage being really different from today, the women had little choice of their husbands because if a rich male that they hated wanted to marry them, their mother/father had the choice of engaging them, marriage at that time was basically an investment, and that is true because Lady Bracknell didn't want Gwendolen to marry Jack, but she will love him even though she will marry many times, she is going to marry many times to old guys that die, and she will get the money. Marriage was satirized many times in the play, marriage was thought to be of a demeaning commitment to a mans life when Lane said " I have often observed that in married households the champagne is rarely of a first rate brand" basically meaning that once you get married your life will just go downhill

new years resolution

2009 is finally over and I feel really good because I achieved my goals from last year, this year its highschool and grades are actually really going to count, last year all subjects were basically a breeze and I hardly ever really TRIED to do a good job and my parents would be mad because they think I am slacking off and not paying attention at school, this year I want things to be different, I want to have a perfect GPA again, study and finish algebra 2 over the summer so I could skip it and go to calc in sophomore year. I have this huge goal of going to any of the IVY League colleges and becoming a surgeon when I grow up, if I can ever finish calc in sophomore year I don't have to waste more time with math when I take biology and chemistry while taking running start. It is a really far-fetched goal but I already have things planned out, I will pay attention at school and take my time of doing projects so I don't make stupid mistakes that I usually do.
